Our Love Story

How it All Happened 🥰

2016

The First Glance

Ope first noticed Damola in 2016 at God’s Hope Hospital while waiting to submit her SIWES letter. She spotted him chatting with the chips seller and thought to herself, “see that fine boy.” But she brushed the thought aside, assuming he was short and only “fighting for chips.” Interestingly, Damola had no idea she had seen him then.

2017

Crossing Paths Again

Fate brought them together again in 2017. Ope’s friend Timothy came to visit her, hoping to ask her out, but he didn’t come alone—he brought along Damola. To Ope’s surprise, this was the same “chips guy” from the hospital. From Damola’s side, Timothy had asked him to accompany him to see a girl he liked. Out of loyalty, Damola followed, thinking he was just being a “right-hand man.” But the moment he saw Ope, he knew he liked her too. Respecting the “bro code,” he kept quiet at first, but eventually told Timothy his feelings.

2018

Friendship and Almosts

In 2018, Ope gained admission into FUNAAB while Damola was in his finals. Their friendship grew stronger. Damola always checked on her, reminded her of his interest, and even dragged her to the clinic once when she was sick, showing his caring side. Despite his persistence, Ope kept saying no. She admitted she thought he looked like a “player” and didn’t want to complicate things, especially since Timothy once liked her.

2021

Missed Chances

In 2021, Damola asked Ope out again, but she turned him down. Months later, when she finally decided she was ready, Damola was already in a relationship. That day, Ope discovered he had saved her number as “Soetan Opeoluwa”, while she had him saved as “Dee❣.” Hurt, she quickly changed his contact name to “Alayaki Adedamola”—aura for aura.

2023-2024

It's Meant to Be

Years went by with near misses and stubborn refusals, but Damola never stopped caring. On April 15th, 2024, everything changed—Ope finally said yes to him. After years of patience and persistence, their love story officially began.

2025!

Finally Us!!!

Looking back, both believe everything happened for a reason. Ope now sees that God was using those years to mould Damola into the man who would eventually tick her boxes. Damola admits he almost broke “bro code,” but destiny had other plans. Today, they are proof that true love survives detours, delays, and destiny’s tests. What started with chips and stubborn refusals has become a forever journey..
